Designed for Happier, Healthier Cats
IMPORTANT TIPS
- Don’t allow your dog to aggressively knock the dish over.
- Fasten the black anchor to the floor using either carpet screws or the double-sided tape provided for smooth surfaces only.
- Attach the base to the anchor using the small black thumb tab.
- The dish is a training aid and deterrent. Begin setting boundaries with your dog from the start.
IF YOUR DOG STILL TRIES TO GET INTO THE CAT’S FOOD
- Some small or determined dogs may still try to get into your cat’s food. Their shoulder anatomy can make it uncomfortable, and training may help them stop.
- When you first put the dish down, stay near your dog.
- If your dog approaches the dish to eat, redirect them away from it.
- Use a leash if necessary.
Some dogs may require training or discipline to make sure your cat eats comfortably.
Cat Feeding Station tips
IF YOUR CAT WON’T EAT FROM THE COVERED DISH
Allow your cat a short period of time to become familiar with the covered dish. During this period, supervise feeding because the food may be easier for a dog to access. Try the four-step introduction below.
STEP 1
Start With the Base Only
Remove the hood and let your cat eat from the base only.
STEP 2
Move the Hood Closer
Each day, move the hood closer to the base while your cat continues eating normally.
STEP 3
Place the Hood on Top
Place the hood on top of the base at one end, leaving the cat’s food exposed at the uncovered end. Make sure it is stable.
STEP 4
Complete the Setup
Reattach the hood to the base to complete the training method.
